2011-2012 Scholarships

  • II-VI Foundation

    The goal of the II-VI Foundation is "To encourage and enable students to pursue a career in engineering, science and mathematics while maintaining a standard of excellence in that pursuit."

    Scholarships are limited to students entering the fields of engineering, math and science.  II-VI Foundation scholarship opportunities are notdirected toward pre-med candidates, civil engineers or petroleum engineers.  However, scholarship opportunities are directed toward students pursuing degrees in electrical, industrial, chemical, nuclear, mechanical, material science engineering and related engineering and science disciplines.  Mathematics majors are welcome to apply.   Also, the scholarship opportunity is not available to seniors who are applying for the first time.  It is felt we cannot have as great an impact on these students.

  • Richard D. Zana Memorial Fund Scholarship

    The Richard D. Zana Memorial scholarship was created to further the post-secondary education of qualified graduating seniors by helping to defray the costs of the first year's tuition, books and related academic fees. The total number of scholarships awarded and the amount of such scholarship(s) may vary from year to year.

     

    Applicants must:

    • Be a senior eligible for graduation;
    • Have at least a 3.0 Q.P.A or be ranked in the top 20% of the graduating class;
    • Provide academic records that indicate the ability to successfully earn an undergraduate degree in music performance, education or theory and composition;
    • Have participated in structured musical activities;
    • Be accepted or enrolled as an entering Freshman in a college or university and majoring in music (performance, music education, theory and composition).
    • Exemplify a spirit of good citizenship as evidenced by participation in community service and extracurricular activities; and
    • Be a US Citizen.

    The Delmar Foundation provides scholarships of up to $5,000 per school year to students who plan to continue their education after high school.     Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation 2012 Scholarship
    The annual scholarship award is to recognize and reward at least one senior high school student in Allegheny County who is interested in the history, architecture, and/or landscape design of the Pittsburgh region and who will be a full-time college student, beginning in the fall.   • Caplan-Lieber Human Relations Award

    Caplan-Lieber Human Relations Award  The mission of this award is to honor students who have shown initiative and leadership incombating prejudice and fostering good relations between diverse groups within the school and/or the community. 

    Last year we opened up the competition to include both high school juniors and seniors.  Please note that a student may only be nominated once - if nominated as a junior, he/she may not be nominated again as a senior.

    We invite you to nominate one student for the 56th Annual Caplan-Lieber Human Relations Award.  A distinguished panel of judges will review the nominations and select one outstanding student to receive a $1000 scholarship award.

    Each nominee and an adult school representative will be invited to a luncheon on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Rodef Shalom Congregation in Oakland.

  • 2012-2013 Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program

    This program, funded through the Comcast Foundation, recognizes high school seniors from Comcast communities for their commitment to community service, academics, and demonstrated leadership.  To acknowledge these accomplishments, recipients of the award will receive a one-time grant of $1,000.
     
    Requirements:
    Full-time high school senior currently enrolled at a high school within a Comcast Community.
    Student grade point average of 2.8 or higher.  
    Student demonstrates leadership abilities in school activities or through work experiences.
    Student shows a strong commitment to and involvement in community service.
    Student plans to attend an accredited, nonprofit college, university, or vocational/technical school in the United States.
    Student will need to verify nomination by entering the Comcast School Code (CSC), provided by the principal or guidance counselor. 
    Student will need to complete and approve the terms and conditions set forth in the media release included as part of the scholarship acceptance form.  If the nominee is not over the age of eighteen, the parent/guardian must complete and approve the terms and conditions set forth in the media release included as part of the scholarship acceptance form.
    Employees of Comcast, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and the children and other family members of Comcast employees and employees of Comcast's subsidiaries and affiliates are not eligible.
